Course Details
This course equips delegates with the strategic, operational, and inter-agency coordination skills required to manage large-scale incidents effectively. Through practical application of national frameworks, decision-making models, and communication strategies, participants will develop the confidence to lead multi-agency responses and ensure resilient, informed command structures.
At the end of the course, the delegate will be able to:
Demonstrate understanding of the NCAF document.
Demonstrate an understanding of the central Government’s CONOPS document.
Establish liaison with key personnel in their own service and other agencies that may contribute to achieving strategic objectives.
Undertake a situational evaluation to review the implications of exercising strategic command during an incident where multiple tactical commanders are operating, including approving tactical plans and prioritising resource needs.
Assume command of the incident and coordinate with strategic representatives of other agencies to maximise the effectiveness of the response.
Analyse the factors involved in setting and reviewing the strategy to develop a strategic plan to support the incident, including measures to mitigate risk to the community, environment and the fire and rescue service business continuity.
Use advice and support from appropriate technical and professional sources.
Engage media resources in conjunction with other agencies to inform and protect the community.
Modify planned actions in response to emerging needs and the impact of the incident.
Manage the liaison with other agencies using the JESIP Joint Doctrine principles to develop a Common Operating Picture (COP).
Ensure that the JESIP Joint Decision-Making process is used for significant inter-agency decisions.
Use the IIMARCH document to brief the F&RS representative attending SCG.
Provide constructive feedback in a debrief.
